Drone pilot David McArthur was “in the right place at the right time” when he shot these scenes over the River Alde last summer.

Sharing the footage with our readers, he said: “That evening on the Alde was fantastic, I was grateful that the Aldeburgh Yacht Club had given me permission to fly.”

The pilot, who owns Spatial Photography and makes a living from taking aerial photos to aid with site surveys, building surveys and even crop surveys, explained that there is a growing demand for drone footage.

“The potential uses for drones are yet to be fully discovered. They remove a lot of health and safety issues, and they can perform tasks much faster than some current methods.”

However, he urged people to check official guidelines before taking to the skies themselves.

“The majority of people do not understand how to fly them safely or understand the regulations set out by the Civil Aviation Authority. You should get proper advise before buying one.”

  • I'm sure there must be some significance to the marker you've put on the map nowhere near where the video was taken, but you've defeated my imagination.
