Hundreds of lambs have been stolen from a Suffolk farm over the Christmas period.

Suffolk police have issued an appeal for information after the theft, which happened on farmland in Friston near Saxmundham.

A flock of 338 lambs were reported stolen from the site in Aldeburgh Road.

It is thought the theft happened sometime between Thursday December 21 and Tuesday, January 9.

“The police would like to hear from anyone who was in the area or passing during these dates who may have seen a large vehicle or persons acting suspiciously on farmland where the lambs were living,” a spokesman added.

Annual Rural Crime Reports have revealed the cost of countryside crime in Suffolk, including theft of livestock, tools, trailers, and vehicles, has exceeded £1million in past years.
