The summer instalment of a biannual music festival returns to Woodbridge later this month with its ‘silent discos’ back by popular demand.

All four days of SummerFest feature live music acts throughout the afternoon, followed by silent disco DJ sessions into the evenings of August 20, 25, 26 and 27.

Organisers Marco Spina and Ian Matthews, who operate under the myFestival moniker, will be inviting back a number of artists who appeared during the four days of SpringFest in May.

A SummerFest warm-up party was held over three evenings in July, with silent discos taking place at three of the local pubs and restaurants.

Mr Matthews said: “We had some of our most successful evenings yet. We reached capacity and sold out of headphones two nights in a row. It was a great weekend.”

The silent disco concept allows listeners to choose between the music played by more than one DJ on wireless headphone receivers.

Mr Spina, who will also be behind the decks at SummerFest, said: “We will be kicking off the festival at The Table on August 20, moving to The Kings Head on August 25, continuing at The Angel on August 26, and concluding at The Crown on August 27.

“After previous festivals, we have been very lucky to have new acts contacting us with requests to play, so we have a great mix of both new talent and our favourite acts from previous events.”

Bands including Strike The Sun, Pessimist, and Oranje are all new to SummerFest, and will be joining a packed lineup of returning acts, including Reno and Rome, Falling From Trees, In My Disguise, and The Alibi Club.

In the evenings, the instruments are packed away and replaced by the DJ turntables for the silent disco.

The popular events involve two or three DJs playing simultaneously, and listeners wearing wireless headphones that allow them to switch between the different channels.

Mr Spina said: “We’re very lucky to have DJ Tony Ryder joining us this summer. He will be joining the myFestival regular lineup. We’ve got a great set of parties planned it’s going to be great.”

All events are free to enter, with more information available on Facebook, @myFestivalUK, and
