STUDENTS at Harlow College have been given an eye-opening presentation on how to keep themselves safe whilst out and about.
Delivered by Harlow PCSOs Karen Rogers and Phyllis Chipchase, the hard hitting presentation, which featured crime statistics, videos and graphic photos, was given to around 700 students over four days and covered a range of topics from knife crime and robbery to binge drinking.
Students were asked what subjects they wanted the talks to cover as part of their tutorial work.
Pauline Leggett, head of student support said: “The students could be at risk of these things so we wanted them to be informed. They have really engaged with it and taken the messages on board.”
Harlow MP Robert Halfon attended the session on Friday morning. He said: “I commend the college, police and Harlow Council for getting together to make this a part of the students’ learning.”
