A MARRIED couple had to be taken to hospital after they were injured while attempting to park their car.
The drama, in which it is believed up to ten vehicles were damaged, unfolded at the Resource Centre in Chapel Lane, Wickham Market.
It is understood that the woman, who is in her 80s, had parked the couple’s automatic blue Renault Clio in the car park around 11.40am on Wednesday.
She then got out of the vehicle and her husband, who is in his 90s, got behind the wheel.
He is then understood to have lost control of the car and in the process knocked his wife to the ground, fracturing her arm in several places.
A spokeswoman for Suffolk police said several cars were damaged while the man tried to reverse the car.
He was then in collision with several more as he tried to move forward - shunting one of them in to the road and causing it to collide with another vehicle, she said.
The East of England Ambulance Service were called to the scene and both the husband and wife, who are from the Woodbridge area, were taken to Ipswich Hospital.
The man had to have stitches after suffering a facial injury, and was discharged on Wednesday afternoon.
However the woman is still under observation at Heath Road.
Some of the vehicles involved in the collision include a red Renault Megane, black Citroen ZX, red mini, blue VW Golf, red Vauxhall Astra, white Ford Transit van, silver Renault Scenic, Skoda Octavia and a Citroen Berlingo van.
Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident to call PC Mark Head at Suffolk Constabulary’s roads policing unit on 101.
