HOCKEY hot-shot Emily Wilford is already targeting the 125-goal mark after becoming the first Framlingham College pupil to score 100 times for the school.

The 17-year-old from Debenham reached the milestone on October 1, scoring twice in Framlingham’s 7-1 victory over Felsted School.

“I did not realise how close
I was to 100 goals and it was not until my coach came up and shook my hand afterwards that I realised. It was a nice surprise,” revealed Wilford, who boards at the 
college.

“I would now like to go on and reach the 125-mark and I have until December, when the school season finishes, to do that.”

Should that target be achieved the prolific midfielder will go into the National League on a high. The teenager plays for Diss-based Harleston Magpies.

“I don’t play for Harleston during the school season as I am representing the college but I will be playing for them after Christmas,” said Wilford, who plans to 
take a gap-year before going to university to study Business Management.

“I did well last season and I was the highest under-18 goalscorer in the National League with seven goals. My aim is to play in the Premier League.”

Wilford’s record comes as former South African hockey skipper and two-time Olympian, Susan Webber, has just been appointed deputy head at Framlingham.

“Susan has been a great help and has come to the college with a lot of fresh ideas and experience, she has been there and done it,” Wilford added.
