WICKHAM Market manager Fred Crowfoot admits his side are stuck in a rut after suffering seven successive defeats in the Senior Division of the Kingsley Healthcare SIL.

Fred Crowfoot, who took on the mantle after Steve Cook resigned following a 6-0 loss to Grundisburgh earlier in the season, knows his side need to arrest the slide ahead of tomorrow’s crunch bottom-of-the-table clash at home to Crane Sports.

Wickham Market, who won promotion to the Senior Division after finishing runners-up last season to Leiston St Margarets in Division One, sit third bottom four points ahead of their visitors, who have three matches in hand.

Crowfoot admitted: “We are in a bit of a rut at the moment.

“We have not been getting the rub of the green in recent matches, but when we have been on top we have not been putting our chances away.

“We have some decent players at the club, but if we go a goal down the players sometimes drop their heads.

“Saturday’s match is a ‘six-pointer’ but hopefully we can get a win and push on from there. Our fate is still in our own hands, although both Crane’s and Framlingham have got games in hand on us.

“We then play Grundisburgh and Woodbridge Athletic, but after we play at Achilles our last four league games are all at home - against Haughley United, Felixstowe United, Framlingham and Ransomes.

“If we can stay up this year then we can get some new faces in for next season and push on.”
