Teams of three train to compete for September’s triathlon title in Aldeburgh
Swimmers, cyclists and runners are training to be part of a seaside endurance race’s winning trio.
The Aldeburgh Fun Team Relay Triathlon unfolds along the seafront on Sunday, September 10, in aid of local charities, the East Anglian Air Ambulance and RNLI.
It starts at noon with a 750m tide assisted swim from The Scallop to the Moot Hall, a 22km cycle and 5km run.
The event has doubled in size since launching for 50 teams in 2015, and entries are already fully booked this year.
Since 2015, £2,500 has been raised for charity – with organisers hoping to double that in 2017, when they will also launch a free fun run for under-13s before the triathlon.
Race director Matt Dye said the community had been generous and supportive, with sponsors including Best Estates, Best of Suffolk, TA Hotel Collection, O&C Butcher, Aldeburgh Fish & Chips, Gressingham Foods and Flick & Son, while EDF Energy helped to fund an electronic timing system.
